I see that you offer Group Classes, Private Lessons, and Practice Sessions. That’s a lot of options. What’s the best one for a new student?
We recommend that all new students sign up for the New Student Special. You’ll come away from the New Student Special knowing a few steps in both slow and fast dances, as well as a very clear understanding of how our other classes work. The New Student Special also prepares you for our Group Classes and Practice Parties so that you can easily keep up and not feel out of place.

I have purchased or am thinking about purchasing a Living Social or Groupon voucher, but I’ve got some questions…
Though we still think you’ll get more out of the New Student Special, the Groupon and Living Social vouchers present an excellent deal. We have special sections to answer all the questions for both Groupon and Living Social.

My wedding is coming up very quickly and my fiancee and I have 2 left feet. Can you help us look good doing our wedding dance?
We still recommend the New Student Special. We’ll focus completely on your wedding dance and help you plan how to walk onto the floor, walk off, and the best time to actually do your first dance.
All Ballroom dances share certain elements in common, so even though you’ll be preparing specifically for your wedding dance, you’ll still have all the basic knowledge to feel comfortable attending a Group Class and Practice Party.
Though many students have a fully choreographed dance at the end of just 40 minutes of private instruction, if you feel you need more lessons, your teacher will present you with number of options.

I see that the New Student Special is $59, but what is your pricing after that Introductory offer?
After the New Student Special, Group Classes are $11 per person, Practice Sessions are $5 per person, and Private Lessons are $90 for 40-minutes.
However, if you find that you really enjoy taking classes and learning to dance is a priority for you, the cost of classes can be as less than $4 per person. Your teacher will fill you in on the details.

I’m not really interested in the New Student special. What if I only want to attend Group Classes only?
That’s certainly an option. In this case, we’d recommend taking an Introductory Level Group Class first (schedule here). The cost is $11 per person. There is no need to register for this class unless you have a Groupon or Living Social voucher, just show up whenever it’s convenient for you. But, please take a look at our Class Rules and Dance Etiquette page and our Policies Page before attending.
However, we still recommend doing the New Student Special anyway. The private lessons included in the package will give you a jump start on your dancing and you’ll be able to skip Introductory level classes and jump right into beginner classes. It truly is an excellent value for the amount of material you’ll learn.

How long will it take to get good at dancing?
It depends on your definition of “good”. If you’d like a working knowledge of a couple of dances, then you can achieve that in 3-5 classes. If you’d like to be able to dance to any kind of music with any partner and not have to think about steps, it may take 6 months to 2 years of regular attendance depending on how many dances you’d like to master. In both cases, the best way to get started is to sign up for the New Student Special.

Do I need special shoes?
Sort of. Street shoes are prohibited in the dance space because there are many barefoot dance classes taught in the space and we don’t want small bits of rocks and glass to get tracked in. So, please bring a 2nd pair of shoes to dance in.
Special ballroom dancing shoes are the best option, but they are expensive. In the beginning, as long as your shoes have backs, support your ankles and allows you to turn, they should be okay. In general, athletic sneakers and sandals are a no-no.

How can you learn to ballroom dance without a partner?
Partners aren’t required, because, in our experience we get a pretty decent number of both male and female singles that sign up for classes. Additionally, we rotate partners frequently. I know that some couples would rather stick together for the entire class, but rotation does two things:
- Since each person is exposed to multiple partners, leaders become much better at leading and followers become much better at following.
- Just as important, it prevents couples from fighting. By the time you get back to your original partner, both of you will have worked out the kinks in the step.

Will I dance with my partner the whole time?
You will be dancing with your partner for a large part of the time, but we do rotate partners frequently. I know that some couples would rather stick together for the entire class, but rotation is extremely beneficial in 2 ways:
- Since each person is exposed to multiple partners, leaders become much better at leading and followers become much better at following.
- Just as important, it prevents couples from fighting. By the time you get back to your original partner, both of you will have worked out the kinks in the step.

I already have some ballroom and latin dance experience. What class should I take?
We still recommend that all new students sign up for the New Student Special. Since you have taken Ballroom dance classes before, you can even schedule your 2 lessons back to back. On those lessons, we’ll work at your pace and after seeing how you dance, we can recommend a particular program for you.
